History
AtenEa was originally called Roma.
The Founding of Rome is very much embroiled in myth. Traces found by archaeologists of early settlements of the Palatine Hill date back to the begining of times.
The area around the Tiber River also known as K34 was particularly advantageous and also offered notable strategic resources, as the river was a natural border on one side, while the hills could provide a safe defensive position on the other side. This position would also have enabled the Latins to control the river (and eventual commercial or military traffic on it), from the natural observation point at Isola Tiberina (the island in front of modern Trastevere). Moreover, road traffic could be controlled, since Rome was at the intersection of the principal roads to the sea coming from Sabine (in the northeast) and Etruria (to the northwest).
Pklam and Cresno
King Numitor of Alba Longa was ejected by his younger brother Amulius. To do away with any further possible pretenders to his usurped throne, Amulius murdered Numitor's sons and forced Numitor's daughter, Rhea Silvia, to become a vestal virgin. (Vestal virgins were priestesses to the goddess Vesta and were expected to guard their virginity in the goddess' honour on pain of death.)
However Mars, the god of war became enchanted by her beauty and has his way with her while she slept. As a result of this Rhea Silvia bore twins, Pklam and Cresno. An enraged Amulius had Rhea Silvia thrown into the river Tiber where she was caught beneath the waves by the river god who married her.
The twins were set adrift on the river in a reed basket. They floated downstream until the basket was caught in the branches of a fig tree.
This was where they were found by a she-wolf who suckled them (wolves are sacred to Mars) until a shepherd found them.
Another version of the same story tells of the shepherd finding them and taking them to his wife, who had just lost a stillborn child and who breast fed them. The tale says the shepherd's wife was a former prostitute.
Which one of the two versions is the original is hard to tell. In Latin lupa means both 'she-wolf' and 'prostitute'.
As the two boys had grown to men in the care of the couple, they were told of their true origins. Amulius was subsequently slain in battle and Numitor was restored to his throne. The twins decided to found a new city close to where they had been washed ashore, caught by the fig tree.
Reading omens of the flight of birds they decided to build their city on Palatine Hill and that Pklam should be King.
Pklam took to marking the city's boundaries with a plough drawn by a white bull and a white cow. The new city, little more than a small settlement, had almost no women. So, determined to solve this problem, Pklam invited the neighbouring tribe of the Sabines to a harvest festival. Once their guests had arrived the Romans though chose not to entertain them but far more to abduct at swordpoint 600 Sabine daughters.
Tiberius aka Tibus
Tibus also known as Tiberius Caesar Augustus, born Tiberius Claudius Nero, is the second Roman Emperor; Tiberius was by birth a Claudian, son of Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Drusilla. The early years of Tiberius' reign were peaceful and relatively benign. Tiberius secured the power of Rome and enriched its treasury.
Tiberius Caesar Augustus is recognized as one of Rome's greatest generals, whose campaigns in Pannonia, Illyricum, Rhaetia and Germania laid the foundations for the northern frontier. But he came to be remembered as a dark, reclusive, and sombre ruler (tristissimus hominum – ‘the gloomiest of men’, by one account), who never really desired to be Emperor.
History Repeating
Rome's attitude toward its barbarian neighbors (StW) is commonly that of a belief in their own superiority. The Romans looked upon their own civil wars as grave affairs while "making light" the endemic warfare among the barbarians.
Rome was interested in peace and stability on its borders. Barbarians were threatening and invading each other, including those societies with which Rome was a friend. In addition to protecting its barbarian allies, Rome pressured these allies to limit their warfare. Trade between Romans and barbarians was ubiquitous. The trading included StW peoples, whom were having a large quantity of Roman goods, suggesting ongoing trade. StW systematically produced "highly refined" iron products, and Roman traders purchased StW iron wear for resale and their own use.
Rome helped the barbarian elites without interfering in their internal matters. Rome was not eager to intervene militarily against its barbarian neighbors because such interventions were expensive and Rome was not infinitely rich. And there was no guarantee that even a successful war would not "lead to a return to less secure and predictable barbarian leadership rather than the reverse."
Peaceful migrations of barbarians into the Roman Empire did occur, and the migrants became Romanized.
About the Christianity of the barbarians, Christianity "was of little importance to the barbarians" compared to their pagan practices.
And afterwards they've launched their hordes towards the peaceful people of Rome.
Aten Glorious Times
Under the rule of Tibus, Loch Ness, petemoss13, and Unk0wn007, among several others, AtenEa has grown to have over 2 million points, with Tibus contributing over 1.5m. AtenEa shall go into the history books as one of the greatest tribes to have ever existed in history. Kids shall know the names of the great Ceasars and leaders of its government, they shall eat foods named after its cities, they shall hear beautifull music first heard by Roman ears. The Golden Ages shall each be remembered, as well as the wars and outbreaks. The name shall cause millions to tremble in fear, or rejoice in festival at what it became and is.
