Welcome
Welcome to the Happy-Wiki project. Anyone that would like to become an active, productive, well-known member of the wiki should enter your name to the list provided below.
Please note - To sign up for this project or add information/tips, you will need to have a registered nickname on this wiki and be logged in. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience!
Our mission
We plan to clean up the wiki, deterring vandalisers from our pages by showing them how into the wiki we are.
An open source wiki is nothing without its community and users, and we appreciate your input.
Here, however, is the place to present your respect back to the providers of this wiki, thanking them for the services they allow us to maintain.
The 5 pillars to helping
Helping the Happy-Wiki team is very simple, almost as if you were on your own, but this is a nearly coordinated effort on all our behalf. I've actually put together a list of 5 areas the Wiki could use help in. Follow these and we're sure to advance in our ultimate goal of perfection! - or at least close.
Old vs New
Go through the database looking for old, outdated pages with the random page
generator found to the left and either Refresh and Update these pages,
or if they're unusable, redirect them to a page that is.
Recent changes
Check the Recent changes page for newly added or newly updated pages and check in on them.
Everyone needs an outside editor whether its small punctuation problems or complications
in their grammatical structures.
Don't be afraid to edit someone's page to better it's appearance to visitors!
Article Development
Write new articles on old, or missing files lost to our archives.
On the left navigation bar is a Help link, use it to find missing files
necessary to newer users to our wiki.
Nothing prepares future Happy-Wikiers better than simple tips from the community!
Note: These Help files are INCOMPLETE. Do not rely on them for accurate help
as in many cases they're missing completely. We're simply asking you to
fill in these pages with tidbits of information you know or can find out!
Tag pages!!
Tagging pages with the [[Category:(category)]] is
one of the most important parts of the wiki experience.
This lets everyone, new and old, find pages otherwise lost in the
immense filing cabinet of the wiki.
Use appropriate templates!
Nothing is less attractive than many pages, although carrying the basic information,
having completely different setups.
Provided its nice to have variety once in awhile, our Wiki-team has provided some very nice
templates for this specific purpose and its necessary for the overall effect of the wiki to
maintain the use of these templates and use them effectively.
Getting started
Some of you may be new members, wondering how in the world wikis work, others may be seasoned in the processes of Wiki type archiving and should catch on fairly easy. Its necessary to say now that most Wikis have very different setups, whether it be certain modules, capabilities, or simply the key-shortcuts for easy navigation. However, there should be no worries in these areas as everything will be explained in due time.
New pages
First off, we'll introduce creating a new page. There will, well.. should, come a time in your membership to this Wiki that you will decide its necessary to write a personalized article. Articles can range from simple How-to's to Guides to becoming powerful players in the TW community and all it takes is the intuition of a great(or simply present) mind to write these items.
Now, to start, in the address bar you should find http://wiki.tribalwars.net/Happy-Wiki. This is what you should see, anyway, but for our purposes you can simply copy and paste. The way the Wiki system works, is really rather simple. Replace the name, in this case Happy-Wiki, with the title of your new page.
Note: Do not make pages for individuals or players in the TW game. There are specially declared pages for such topics and making such page leaves it open for deletion.
Another note: After creating your page, MAKE SURE you read the tips above, and add category tags! If you aren't sure of which category it belongs, default with [[category:All pages]] as this is the main cache for most pages.
Grammar
Everyone has done it, I've even caught myself doing it on occasion. Making simple grammatical errors, whether it be forgetting to include a letter, forgetting a word, or using small, choppy sentences, everyone knows how unattractive it can be.
This is where we come in, the clean-up crew if you will, to fix these small errors and save the user as well as the entire Wiki from looking both illiterate and ignorant!
As previously said in Tips, Don't be afraid to edit someone's page to develop themes and create sections for them. The goal of editing pages is to have easy to follow information readily available, thus sectioning, as seen on this page along with many others, is so very important to the overall effect of the page.
For help recognizing errors and for tips on how to go about fixing these minor mistakes, click here. This source is the most effective, informative page of grammar I've seen on the site as of yet; Please use it effectively and incorporate key ideas in the pages you create/edit.
Important: I've been seeing this very often lately; Please try to avoid personal indicators in the articles as this can lead to confusing paradoxes! Try as often as you can to label exactly who you're referring to, for example:
Use : The attacker should then send three subsequent waves towards the defender. Do NOT use: You should then send 3 subsequent waves towards them.
Another good area to point out in this example, numbers up to ten should be spelled out, anything beyond ten should be typed in number format. Eg: 11 or 249
This is simply in the interests of correct sentence structures in global situations.
Stubs
Stubs are used to inform Users and Administrators that a page has been left incomplete by the original poster. Be careful when labeling pages as incomplete, as users may be adding more information while you're tagging it, however, be persistent and bold when you spot a faulty page.
Here are a few helpful tips to spot a stub:
If its a tribal page, such pages should include: The full name The Tag Member count World <-- VERY important for categorizing in the Tribeopedia!! Duke(s) Rank Continents Information about the tribe/its beginnings/perhaps the history? Member list? Current news/events?
Note: '?'s are just suggested sections. Tribe page stubs should be categorized with {{tribe stub}}
Note2: You're better off following the Tribe template located here for finding missing information (these items can be announced in the Discussion page)
Note3: As of late, the use of the Tribal stub has been removed, because only players from the tribe in question can accurately display information. Please don't try to mark these pages as stubs as it will only complicate things. Simply try to update their ranking, member count, etc. if you can.
If its a User page, such pages should include: User name: Background information: Any other information ;)
Note: Use {{stub}} for these stubs.
Note2: Pages made for users not having User: in the URL should be marked with the {{delete}} tag as they're inappropriate uses of tribal pages!
Jumping in
Below is a chart of pages you MAY want to visit whether to better acquaint yourself with the site, or to improve their appearance/quality (or their sibling pages). I will also put a summary of what is there and what to expect.
| Location | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Broken Redirects | These pages contain redirected pages to deleted or otherwise non-existant pages. Try checking back occasionally to see if there are any redirects waiting to be removed from their useless homes. Be sure to mark blank pages with {{Delete2 |Nothing on page}} or any other relevant reason! |
| Wanted pages | These are pages waiting to be created for the Wiki's use. Files such as Help: files or Wikipedia: files should be left alone for now as we're working on removing those references - replacing them with all new, TW Wiki exclusive, informational pages. |
| Requests | These are pages requested by Community members. |
| Recent changes | This page can be found on the Left navigation bar, but it is also located here for convenience. Don't forget to check here as this is the FIRST place you will notice vandalism or new, potential edits for you! |
| Templates | This page leads to all available templates and their instructions for use. Feel free to use these templates or even to create a template of your own! Try to avoid making useless templates that will only be useful for the present situation. Thank you! |
| Categories | This page shows ALL existing category links at present. Feel free to browse categories for incompletes/vandalised pages, or even to alter category tags to match common/similar tags. This will substantially help clean up this page! |
| Tribe | This page is an extension to the Categories page and can be found within, but is here for convenience. Use this page to find otherwise invisible tribe pages to tag them for stubs, improving, or categorizing through the Tribeopedia. |
| Stubs | This page is also on the Categories page, but here for convenience. Use this page to quickly find articles you believe you could effectively contribute to, thus lessening the burden of stub pages. Believe, when it is said, that the TW Wiki community has MORE than enough stubbed pages in its cache! |
| Oldest pages | This is a list of the oldest pages on the wiki (from last edit date). Try starting at number 7 or so and working your way down. See how far you can get in these 'Ancient' pages!! |
| Privacy policy | These are a simple reminder for editors about TW Wiki's policies and standards. |
| Disclaimers | |
| About | |
| Registration | If you've made it this far and STILL haven't registered a username, its requested you do to be of more help to the community. Remember, for TW Wiki promotions, you MUST have a registered username while posting information to the Wiki. |

Inactivity
Hate to do this, but an activity sweep will need to be held soon, which will knock the count down to probably 3-4. lol, not an active project if there're idle names, eh? - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project
