At the statue the villagers render homage to your paladin. If your paladin dies you can appoint one of your fighters new paladin. The Statue is a special building. It allows you to make a Paladin, which is a very good unit that is very fast, very cheap, and nameable. Unfortunately you are limited to one paladin. You can only have 1 statue throughout your entire world (all your villages). So if you claim a second village you may not have a statue in both.

Notes

The statue is a very helpful building because every time your Paladin (or whatever you name it) dies then you can just recruit another one. Even though it takes a long time to train a Paladin, it is completely worth it. The Paladin (or again what ever you name it) is one of the most (except for a nobleman) helpful fighters you can have, and is extremely cheap to make.
