Attacking Strategies

Below is a useful list of Attacking Strategies that you can use to your advantage in the game. Enjoy!

Offense

Farming

Farming is the act of repeatedly attacking someone to harvest their resources. Before you start getting multiple villages it is extremely important that you farm. In the early stages of the game you will have to farm with spearmen.

For most farms, 30-50 light cavalry will suffice to clear them out, if the most you can get from it is 1000 of each resource, but use your own judgment/math skills to work out what you need for larger farms.

It is also worth bearing in mind that spears and archers sent on their own will die. Get around this problem by simply sending a handful of axes with each attack.

It is also recommended that, instead of using one farm, use several, so when the resources run out in one village, you can rotate.

One thing to consider when choosing a farm is whether or not that player is active. If you farm from an inactive player, they will not be offended and won't fight back; however, if you try farming from an active player, they will try to fight back and if necessary call for help so only attack as a last resort and if they are tribeless. This can get you in a lot of trouble which could have easily been avoided. It is also respectful to active players to let them develop unhindered when there are other less wanted villages to farm from.

It is also a good strategy to send a few (just enough for them not to die) scouts along with attack, as they can scout the amount of resources left in that village. So that you'll know how many (and if) troops you need to send on the next raid. As it is never good to send too many just as to few troops for a simple raid.

See Farming.

Nobling

Basics

The primary objective in Tribal Wars is to capture villages. This is achieved by sending a nobleman to attack the village to be captured (usually with other units, as a nobleman cannot survive in an attack on its own), which is why this is often referred to as "nobling". Players can capture any village, whether the village in question is unowned or owned by another player. Assuming a nobleman survives in an attack on a village, it decreases the loyalty of that village. The amount of loyalty lost is dependant on which world the event occurs in, but it is usually 20% to 35%. When the village's loyalty reaches 0%, the village's ownership is transfered to the attacking player.

Noble Trains

Timing an attack such that the final attack and nobles arrive in rapid succession is called a "noble train". This helps protect your nobles and makes it much harder for the defending player to prevent the complete reduction of loyalty. A noble train usually starts with one or more clearing atacks, followed 3-4 attacks with nobles and a few defensive escorts, finishing with a noble escorted by the defensive troops which will support the nobled village. A good noble train has multiple clearing forces.

A 5-noble train puts down the loyalty to 0 100% of the time (called a "full noble train"), a 4-noble train puts down the loyalty to 0 only the 87% of the time and a 3-noble train only 1% of time; (Unless you have the Paladin item Vasco's Scepter, which automaticaly reduces the loyalty by 30).

Because noble trains usually require 4 nobles and your first village can house a maximum of 3 in package worlds, this is not a possible tactic when you only have one village. after you have at least 5 academy levels (One to take the second village) though, you can train the 4 nobles in any village you want, making it a lot easier. If you are in an organized tribe you may even have your tribemates supply part of the train, but let's assume you're on your own. Sending your nobles all at once won't work, because your villages are different distances away from the target, so before sending your train, you need to work out how long each segment of the train is going to take to get to the target.

There are two ways of doing this:

  1. Use an attack calculator from a site such as TWstats.
  2. Or else send each attack but don't hit attack on the second screen.

Once you know how long each one is going to take, send the attack that will take the longest to get there. Once the time remaining almost shows the amount of time the next longest will take to get there, send the next segment and so on.

Finally, under no circumstance send more than one noble in any single attack. The loyalty would be reduced by the same as for one noble, defeating the purpose of trains.

Clearing Villages

Ok well there are a few methods to clearing villages the first is to send a clearing force with a few of you attacks. Depending on the size of the noble train your number of clearing forces accompaning nobles, with a 3 noble noble train you should be able to have a clearing force with ever noble, with a 4 noble noble train you should have a clearing force with at least 2 of the nobles and at most 3 or them, and with a 5 noble noble train you will probly only be able to send a clearing force with 2 of the nobles so include one with the first and third noble the second methode to clearing out village is to ask a fellow tribe member or friend to do it for you. You could also ask them to send a noble or 2 with the attack to lower the villages defences for you. the third methode is to send a clearing force first and then attack with the noble train, this attack works best on inactive or abandon villages that are with in a 2 hour attack limit from you when you use the noble

Dodging

When you are confronted with a noble train, it sometimes seems like there is little you can do. Though this is for the most part true, there are defenses that can save your village. In order to survive the train, you have to kill at least one or two of the nobles through the protection of their armies. It is always a good idea to build your wall when anticipating an attack, as well as building as many troops as you can.

Dodging As mentioned before, is a tactic that can be used to attack less defended nobles in a train. In efficient noble trains, there will usually be a clearing wave of troops to destroy your military before the Nobles arrive, reducing risk to them. Dodging is a tactic that sends all of your troops on some small errand before they arrive, like supporting or farming a village near you. This will preserve your military, and though the enemy will take all your resources, you will still stand a solid chance of killing their nobles, a very expensive loss to them. You may also want to spend all of the resources that you can to prevent them from being plundered. After having lost nobles, your enemy will usually decide to attack someone else, or at least take a few days to get new nobles, giving you time to prepare.

Attacking the Wall

Rams are used to destroy you opponents wall. Generally, this is only relevant if multiple attacks are required to "clear" the city before nobling. Catapults are also capable of targeting the wall but are not as effective as the ram.

Surround and Conquer

In many situations, when trying to defeat a powerful enemy near you, it is best to capture smaller villages around him. Once you have several villages with decent offensive units, you can attack. This enables you to use far more units and makes it far more convenient if you are planning to use the Noble Train Tactic.

When trying to do this to someone far away, there are some other things which can help you achieve victory. Most importantly, check alliances around and of the person you are attacking, and if there are any tribes near him that are your enemies' enemy, check if they would be interested in making an alliance and protecting you while you set up, then help you destroy your enemy.

If you Plan to Noble your Enemy you must attack 3-5x Noble Attack, and The Village of your Enemy is yours.

Fake Attacks

To send a fake attack is to send an attack which you don't intend to succeed. In a fake attack, one Ram, Spearmen, or Swordsman is usually sent, to mimic different attacks, and to confuse the defender, making them unsure of where the real attacks are going to hit.

See Fake Attacks.

Defensive Strategies

Below is a useful list of Defensive Strategies that you can use to your advantage in the game. Enjoy!

Defence

Wall Strategy

Building up the level of your wall can never be a bad thing. A village's wall adds both base defense and raises military units' defense by a set percent. With a high level wall you can more than double the effectiveness of your defensive units. You will lose less units and your enemy more -- hopefully costing your opponent more than it does you. Using walls effectively allows even weak villages to hold against larger numbers.

Dodging

When you are confronted with a noble train, it sometimes seems like there is little you can do. Though this is for the most part true, there are defenses that can save your village. In order to survive the train, you have to kill at least one or two of the nobles through the protection of their armies. After having lost nobles, your enemy will usually decide to attack someone else, or at least take a few days to get new nobles, giving you time to prepare.

Self Support

This tactic is useful for taking out a large attacking force. You send part or all of your millitary from one or more of your villages to the one that will be attacked so you can have a better chance of surviving the attack. This might not work if some one is using the nuke tactic on you.

Panic Attacks

These attacks do exactly as they say, they cause panic and more importantly destruction

Offence

This is the offence section of the Panic attacks. ENJOY

Fire Attack

This attack is usefull if you dont have an academy, the goal of this attack is to wipe out the enemys troops and farm so the cannot produce troops or upgrade to stop a nobling attack from you. Over 200 catapults and a large force of spearmen, axemen, or swordsmen are needed to make this attack a success

Attacking the Wall

I recomend that you attack the wall first to make this attack successful

Scouting

You need to scout first to determine if you will have enough troops to make this attack worth while, if you do not have enough troops you will be lossing a lot of time and resorcess If their wall is level 20 you will need to have more than twice as many troops as them.

Quake Attack

This attack is ment for taking out the iron mine, clay pit, and timber camp so they cannot trade, build, or train troops. You will need 3 or more villages and 300-500 catapults and a lot of troops per village to pull this off, this will be an attack train. You can attack any one you want first

The Nuke

First, if you don't have more than 2 villages don't bother reading this. This attack is used to wipe out a opponent completely, but you need more villages than them, not points just villages. You will need 5 or more noblemen and a massive army per village to pull this off, not to mention great math skills. You will need to send noble trians to every last one of their villages so that the arive there with in minutes of each other, you need to send equal amounts of units with each noble man. If you do this right he/she might be able to save one or two of their villages, by the way this will take a lot of planning and you will have to have a lot of scouts.

Defence

This is the defence section of the panic attacks. ENJOY

Nuclear Shelter

These tactics will save SOME of your villages, it is almost impossible to sucsesfuly save all of your villages from a Nuke if it is done correctly

Self Support(Shelter Version)

This tactic is useful for taking out a large attacking force. You MUST send all of your millitary from ALL your villages to the the one with the earliest ariving attacks, this should save that village.

More Information

depending on the ammount of villages you have you should be able to save one or more of your viilage hear are the ammounts

4 villages: 1-2 saved

8 villages: 2-3 saved

12 villages: 4-5 saved

16 villages: 5-7 saved

20 villages: 7-9 saved

24 villages: 8-10 saved

Dodging(Shelter Version)

When you are confronted with a noble train, it sometimes seems like there is little you can do. Though this is for the most part true, there are defenses that can save your village. In order to survive the train, you have to kill at least one or two of the nobles through the protection of their armies. After having lost nobles, your enemy will usually decide to attack someone else, or at least take a few days to get new nobles, giving you time to prepare.

For this to Work

Ok for this to work you will have to time everything perfectly: you can do this by sending all of your "errands" within seconds of each other

Nobling Your way Out

Ok this depends on how far away the Nuke is: if it is still 2 to 4 hours away this will work You will need 5 nobles, it dosent matter if they are in the same village. Ok you will need to send a noble train to a near by abandon village if there are any with in range, You will need to send a clearing force with the first 3 attacks and a largish force with the last 1 or 2 attacks If you do this right it should help pervent you from having to restart completly

Nobles

ok here are the ammount of nobles and villages you can gain

4-5 noblemen: 1 village

8-10 noblemen: 2 villages

12-15 noblemen: 3 villages

16-20 noblemen: 4 villages

20-25 noblemen: 5 villages

24-30 noblemen: 6 villages

28-35 noblemen: 7 villages

32-40 noblemen: 8 villages

36-45 noblemen: 9 villages

40-50 noblemen: 10 villages

Counter Strike

Ok this involves use of a noble train or nuke and the self suport strategy

You will need to send all support to the villages that is going to be attack first and you will need to send a noble train to the village that sent most of the attacks there fore you take over there village and they will end up with part of ther army destoyed

Alternate Method

ok in this one you let the person noble your village so you gain control of a considerable amount of troops and then you can use the remander of the troops in that village to take back your old village

On a other note

this will only work if all the attacks are from the same village

Tribal Panic Attacks

these are tribe based Panic Attacks

Offence

Nuclear Winter

First, this is basically the same as "The Nuke" strategy but to a much more extreme level instead of wiping out a player you will be wiping out an entire tribe with the help of yours. This is going to be several times more powerful and harder to do than "The Nuke" but it can still be done. You will need to get the attacks that you and your tribe members do as close to each other as possible so this is going to take a lot of careful planning. You and your tribe will be very lucky if you can destroy and noble every one of the opposing tribes villages.

Defence

It's nearly impossible to defend yourself from a nuclear winter, unless your tribe supports all of your villages with massive amounts of units. Be warned, because this method could easily result in an Armageddon war.

Worldwide Panic Attacks

These panic attacks are usefull if the entire world is at war

Offence

Armageddon

In this attack you and all of your allies shall stike down your enemy in one swift blow you and you allies will all have to use the same troops and every one will have to launch the attacks at the same time. You will need at the least several days of planning and will need a set time to launch the attacks

This can ethier be a attack ment to wipe out the the other tribes villages with out killing them or i can be a Nobling Attack; etheir one will work.
