File Uploader

The file uploader is broken. Please fix it. You will probably need access to the ftp server.

Thanks. I'll look into this. --Booper 07:36, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Wiki Extensions

As you are probably aware Mediawiki has extensions you can add to improve the wiki.

I was wondering if there was any extensions you currently wanted to install on this wiki (I know you can't, I USED to be a sysop)

Thanks --Ocbaker 10:26, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Yes, there are a number of extensions that we have in mind to install on the wiki. --Booper 14:26, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

LaTeX broken

Viewing recent changes, I came across User:Cheesasaurus's page, where it appears he was testing various wiki formatting codes. After seeing a math error, I did a bit of testing myself and found that LaTeX is broken on this wiki.

I did a bit of research and found that other wikis had encountered this and other similar problems, but did not find a solution.

Until this is fixed, a workaround could be to use the LaTeX code onto a wiki where it's working, hit preview and copy the PNG image, and upload this to the TW wiki as a file to be embedded.

IRC

Well, I replied on mine, but figure that wouldn't really catch your attention. So i'll ask here - Any specific time? I have a busy day and need to know when to expect you to be available for contact. - Demon (Talk .:| ex-SysOp |:. Happy-Wiki) 02:12, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Fort Longcat

I realize some members of our tribe are idiots and posted inflammatory things on the page, for which I apologize. Could the page be unlocked so the offensive stuff can be removed? Thanks. Laofmoonster 07:56, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Technology Trees

Hi, I've started on UK3 and it's the first world I've started that doesn't use 'one-tech level'. Could you point me in the direction of a guide, I can't find one on this Wiki anywhere... Thanks in advance, Huzzy (If you want to contact me on the UK side then my IGN is 'Reaper')

Random page

Hello! Is there any chance of placing a link to the random page function in the frame, so that it's available from any page? I can go to a random page from the Main Page, but then I have to go back to the main Page to do the same again; that makes it difficult to do a random trawl looking for mistakes or vandalism. - Hereward 11:14, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Hereward. I've added the 'Random Page' link to the navigation bar now. If you're interested, find me on IRC to discuss a position as a SysOp. --Booper 01:04, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Umbran Commonwealth

Hello again! I came to bring this article to your attention, and discovered your reply to my last request. I apologise for not answering — I'm afraid that I've only just seen it. I should be honoured to be a SysOp; I've had that position on other Wikis, including Wikipedia, but have given up all of them for one reason or another (mostly overwork). In this case, though, the Wiki seems to be of a manageable size, and shouldn't send me screaming for tranquillisers...

With regard to the article Umbran Commonwealth, a couple of members of the Tribe concerned refuse to allow it to stay in standard Wiki style, but are reverting to a graphics-heavy form that is badly coded and makes some of the information difficult or impossible to see. They're doing the same thing with the Talk page, where the effect is even worse. Could you take a look and let me know whether I'm right to edit it the way I did? On Wikipedia and other Wikis it their version wouldn't be allowed, and I'm assuming that the same applies here. Many thanks. --Hereward 17:33, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

You really don't know when to stop. It's our page, if you don't like the way it looks then I suggest that you stop looking at it. From MoS: "Edit warring over optional styles is unacceptable. If an article has been stable in a given style, it should not be converted without a reason that goes beyond mere choice of style" --Thadeous Oakley 17:40, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
And if you had any sense of decency you stopped your little revert war, and ask a Sysops before you start stirring shit up. --Thadeous Oakley 17:43, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Hereward, your the only one who can't read the page. Update your browser, and leave us alone. --Thadeous Oakley 17:51, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Look here :)--Orange 18:01, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Also, Blooper, while this is not of my business I'd like to point out to the mess User:Hereward has caused for us. He's been reverting our edits for over 15 minutes now, despite our numerous requests not to. Apparently, he can't view the page, while everyone else has no problem in whatever browser. I suggest to give him at least somewhat of a warning, and hold on that sysops badge you may or may not plan to give him. At the very least, he could have waited for your response, instead of full reverts war. --Thadeous Oakley 18:03, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

First, the article had not been stable; it was new. Secondly, it wasn't a matter of style; I've checked this on three browsers (Opera, IE, and Safari) and on two computers — in none of the cases were the comments on the talk page or the text in the article visible (and the same goes for the two editors' own Talk pages). I don't know who they mean by "everyone else" being able to read it; I strongly suspect that they mean only that they can.

It's true that on every Wiki with which I've been involved, contributors are required to stick to the house style (and certainly not to treat articles – and especially Talk pages – as their personal Web pages, to be coded and presented as they like), and that was a factor in my original editing, but the illegibility of the text is the main problem.

Sorry to carry on the discussion on your Talk page, but I can't read the text on the proper places: the article Talk page or those of the two editors involved. My apologies also for edit warring; I should have stopped before I did; I'm out of Wiki-practice. --Hereward 15:57, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Again, look here. Works perfectly on all major browsers :D--Orange 16:56, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Hereward, our whole tribe can see the page perfectly! It's our Tribe pages so why can't we present them as we like? Heres a good question, are you joining the clan? I don't think so therefore it's not a big problem seeing as your the only one with the problem. Also why don't you take a screen shot of the page in all three browsers on the two different computers, upload them and let us take a look. As for the article not being stable. it's very stable. Perhaps you should check out these pages: Urban Dead Wiki, Umbrella Corporation Wiki. Umbrella Corporation is our page see if you have problems with that page and the rest of that wiki, because if you do then it's definitely your computer(s) because thousands of people have viewed those pages and there's been no problems like the ones your experiencing. --Wolfschanze 17:11, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Just to add, but by everyone else, we mean every one of us who has looked at it. None of our members have reported any problems whatsoever, and all of those of us on the Wiki seem to be fine with it. The only person who has reported a problem is you, so, regardless of whether you've checked it out in multiple browsers on multiple machines, we can only assume that somehow the problem is still on your end. :), as has been said, maybe you should send us some screenshots of the problem and we can try and sort it out before Mr. Booper gets back on and has to sort this thing out by arbitration.
And, as Wolf said, it is a relatively stable code. We're from another game originally with a relatively advanced Wiki (No offence to this one, but comparing the complexity of the two, UD wins out at present), and our coders aren't novices, nor are they simply plucking codes out of the air. We've never had any problem with this one before, nor have we ever (in the two years or so that we've been using the varient of it) had anyone report problems of the type you've reported. Honestly, I'm stumped as to why you can't view the page properly.--Coven 20:00, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello!

I am sure you're aware that I was previously an admin and have had a large influence on the way the Wiki looks today(Evident still with the nice toolbar when posting and the forced preview) and ofcourse the building pages.

Anyway i'm looking to get back into helping around, I don't expect to waltz back to Admin status or even A Sysop but I do want to actively contribute... I'm fairly handly with everything, so point me in the direction of something that needs doing and i'll see what I can do(Or give me a list haha).

I also read that this will be the Help Base for TW, rather than the current help section, is this true?
