New images

I've decided to begin a new task... image creations. o.O Tell me if you like the idea:

• We have pictures for all stages of buildings... why not create a single animated image to flash through each stage?

I'll also be making images for my own portfolio, animations of knights and such in various scenes, not sure how much i'll be doing though, because I lack the artistic side. I can only manipulate. :P

ok I've made this template, but I have trouble making out the instructions. Where do I send the following template, and is it possible to edit after it's listed as done?

After what happened I can clearly see that I am not fully interested in this wiki and if I became a sysop again I would probably just go off after a while. The whole point that I was interested in this wiki was the learning possibilities this wiki posed for me but however, you didn't like my ideas about the seperate wiki and also you didn't have the passwords for FTP at the time so I considered operating this wiki pointless for learning opportunities.

So for now I have moved on the designing and creating Programs using a ?Microsoft Application called Visual Basic.

Srry about butting but innogames have to be the most disorganised people ever. Around september 2007 Morthy made Oscardog an admin. Around the same time, Morthy, Who was the person instructed by innogames to create this wiki left to make his\her OWN MONEY MAKING PROJECT. If innogames did a better job Morthy would STILL BE A KEY INFLUENCE in this wiki. Never the less around the start of October I was made a wiki SYSOP. JPEGs

Regarding the new rule that all images be PNGs, what’s wrong with JPEGs? I’m big on image optimisation, and PNG is certainly better than GIF (especially with an optimizer like pngcrush or optipng). However, JPEG is always better for images with lots of colors (photos, etc.). SVGs are also often better than PNGs when using gzip, like this server is. The new rule was put in place after much thought on my account. This wiki is rapidly expanding and with server upgrades to the lastest mediawiki software coming soon it is important to put as little stress on the server as possible. Surely because .png are generally smaller file sizes it would put less strain on the server if they were smaller image types. For non-animated images please use .PNG and for animated images use .GIF. Im sure that using .PNG rather than .JPG isn't going to make that much difference to whatever page you want to use images on. Thanks for your thoughts. --Oscardog^{Talk.::.Head Admin}

Err… PNG was never designed to be used for photos, thus it is extremely inefficient for them. Take, for example, kodim09, a standard 512x768 test image from Kodak. The original file was a 569KB PNG. I saved it as a JPEG (50 quality, Fast Integer DCT, no comment – looks 95% as good as the original) with the GIMP, which reduced the filesize to just 28KB. Resaving as a PNG yielded a 275KB file (253KB optimized). As you can see, JPEG is vastly more efficient for photos and other images with lots of detail. In fact, including the PNG version on any page at this wiki would double the loading time. Given, it’s a rather large image, but you get the idea… (I’ve also responded to your post on my talk page.) —Wulf 02:40, 27 March 2008 (CET)

I can answer that for you. Just type the name of the article that you want into the search bar and hit enter. At the top of the search page, click on the create this page link. Put in your information, click Show preview (check your work) then save and you're finished.

You should checkzor the new pages, they have been updated with a new template, bit more information than before but i think it can be improved, but for now it is fine. I can now 'speak' PHP and if we get FTP access(moros is currently asking) then we can work on more dynamic content. A new skin would be awesome! Tbh its not that important, do them in your own time as there is very little else to do. No FTP access means the wiki's usefulness is almost void, as it has the same information apart from tribe pages and guides as the Help Section on TW. Only thing left to do is the images and then that 'new' template, and then its just a case of reverting bad edits, if new guides popup put them in and banning spam.

If this extension requires access to the Wiki FTP, we have no access to this area. The hosters of this Wiki happen to be the TribalWars staff and they solely control all functions of it. Though they have little to do with the management of it, they're alone in that they can grant/remove all powers and maintain sole access in their innerworkings. There is a Mispelling on the Wiki Rules page saying please conptact you but it should say contact you and I can't fix the spelling so I was wanting to let you know.
