Dealing with Vandalism

The tribe categories text has a tribes details in it and I am afraid that if I move the page something unpredicted might happen and I am pretty sure that once you move a page you can't move it back to the same place. Our wiki page was recent the changed by the following user and I was notified by the wicki as follows:

the TribalWarsWiki page Black Dawn Rising has been changed on 17:58, 23 September 2007 by anonymous user 82.42.246.5, see http://wiki.tribalwars.net/wiki/Black_Dawn_Rising for the current version.

When I went there this person was very offensive using the "F" word in the section referred to (which I am sure the system has a log of. I have removed it immediately as we have some young players in our tribe that view our wiki quite often. Can something be done about this player for being so offensive at this I.P. address please. Our wiki page (DreadNought) has been changed and I was wondering if you could fix it

A statement, which is very annoying, has been embeded into the text and I don't have the knowledge to remove it. It is also on some other tribes' wiki pages as well. If you could please assist me in this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. --Jjjtts6

Treibopedia Summary template

I think the tribeopedia "summary" template has glitched, the only 2 tribes I can find that have the template (mine and Red oak army) both have had a lot of the text change, although nobody has edited the pages. Not sure where this should be submitted, but you're an admin so you will. Pages needing admin attention

Just to let you know, I've imported a template from wikipedia (Template:adminbacklog), which puts pages needing adminstrator attention into Category:Administrative backlog. That way admins can see what needs to be done easier. Nikkiq 20:41, 4 September 2007 (CEST)

Coding Issues

Hi, as bb codes don't work here, can you let me know what does!? :) I'm struggling a little atm! I've never used a wiki before so I'm not sure what I'm doing at all!! I tried using the ==Header== tag but it didnt work - how do I 'bold' or resize writing, add links etc? All advice and help appreciated! Thanks, madmumm (Leader: AtenEb, W2)


6th sept - 19:00 hrs Thanks heaps for the help on my talk page! It's brilliant! Somehow I can't see the buttons you're referring to when I click 'edit' - I've looked all over for them, with no luck as yet! I get some info when I click the 'editing help' page, but thats all. Still, I can refer back to my talk page and the tags that you have used there now! :D The other confusion I have is that I created my page (just basically) yet when I search it I am told it doesnt exist and would I like to create it! So I did, and now somehow I have 2 'madmumm' pages :P lol! When I use the madmumm link, it links the wrong one! Could you please explain how I sort it out to have only 1 page, if that's possible!? I did try to get my page to open in the 'main' and 'user' cats but it obviously didnt do what I hoped it would - probably because I've got 2 pages now!! Hmm... nice picture on my page, but, sheesh, I don't see those pretty buttons! No wonder I'm struggling lol! You must have been wondering how the heck I could be so dim, lol. OK, so my next question is... WHY can't I see the buttons! Is it the skin I'm using? I'll go and try changing it, and see if that brings enlightenment! (by the way, I checked in case the buttons were there, just unseen, but they're not - hey, ever hopeful!) update: nope, tried all skins and still no uttons. The wiki just hates me :D Luckily, you've added all the info on my talk page so I will be able to get by using that :D thanks. I only realy use the chat provided by Tribalwars to cut down on the amount of unfriendly chat that I get, but I do use MSN on occasions. I am on at 1730-1830 and 0230-1000. Thanks a lot, i didn't think it'd take that quick, but i'm certain you've made the right decision- i've already started going through pages that have been blanked to work out whether its vandalism or just the pages have become out of use. Wiki Rules

Hi Oscardog,

I was just wondering about a few things that perhaps you might be able to answer for me:

1, Why in the Wiki rules does it say that you are not alowed to edit wiki pages unless you have an account but it is not enforced?

Should we remove the rule??? Should we make use of the rule. Should we use the same Account creation principals as the forum does?? (Tribalwars accountname the same as the Forum name)

2, I have been creating the Privacy Policy (The link at the bottem of the page) I think that It could use a little more work on though

Hello Oscardog,

I am interest in becoming a Beurocrat. I think that I am a worthy person for this title. I have noticed that you have demoted JayJ and I think that I would be an exellent replacement for JayJ. If I was made Beurocrat I think that I can help improve the wiki by disallowing IP addresses (e.g:School, work, Spamming IP's). I also think that I could help by expanding, developing and refining pages like the edit page. As like my current job I am always learning and I am always willing to learn more.

I have contributed a lot to this wiki and I am currently doing a project for the wiki.

Overall I think that I would be and I am a worthy Candidate for this distinctive title, And that I am worth considering.

RE: Beurocracy

OK Oscardog, I respect your decision. I didn't mean any offenc to JayJ. Just that he\she had been demoted and I could be his/her replacement.

I belive that Morthy or the other Beurocrat (The one that promoted Morthy. the very first tribalwars player if you know what I mean) Might have upgraded the wiki. If not a setting might have been changed so that everybody could see it. Also, are you able to edit the SETTINGS of the wiki or is that of a higher rank.

ALSO: How long until You might think me good enough to be beurocrat???

I suggest that we should get another sysop. It might be helpful.

Beurocracy related

Hello Oscardog,

I have searched throgh Mediawiki and I have found a few things that could help use improve the wiki that I can't get to. If you could try and get to the address: (on Messenger) it would be good. If you can't then I am going to require the admin name and password for the files so that I can get to the wanted files. Also when should I ask to become a beurocrat because I think that I have done enough to become one.

For some bizzard reason your main css has been modify instead of the wikis monobook or common in any case.

".pbody" is the tag you are looking for but the issue is that p-body is also use for the navigation column to the left so what we have to do is go specific thats why you will see im adding "#p-cactions" 

#p-cactions .pBody {

	border: 1px solid Purple;
}

Also you must understand a important thing about tags and they can come as ID (p-cactions) or the CLASS (portlet) and can be use separate or in conjunction, so i may use any of those terms (but will mostly use p-cactions). now the next thing about p-cactions is that they are basically a HTML list so the bottoms are actually very funny since they are 2 layers of colors so for example as we use in the dofus the curve effect you can actually see the 2 colors. 

#p-cactions {}.................This is the general will affect all the bottoms except the background if you have the previous code since its more specific than this one.
#p-cactions li {}..............This is the lower level layer for some wiki fanatics that may code a drop down menu will notice the effects but for monobook users will no since what you are looking is the "a" (link)
#p-cactions li.selected {}.....This is for the selected tab Aka your actual tab example if you are in article it looks different than the rest well this is the one to modify. But like the previous its the lower layer.
#p-cactions li a {}............This is the one you actually see.
#p-cactions li.selected a {}...Same as previous but for the selected
#p-cactions .new a {}..........This is for the new (Aka dont exists)
#p-cactions li a:hover {}......This is when you hover with your mouse you gain certain effect you accomplish that with this one.

I've taken a look at what he's done, and I don't think he's a vandal. More than likely, he is a member of S and M just trying to be funny. He has not really done a lot of harm, so I'd probably just leave him be for now.

What is Vandalism?

Was wondering, vandalism can pertain to many things, abuse of edit rights, obscene/inappropriate messages left on page, but would you consider completely useless/off topic pages to be vandalism? I've made a category for it, Category:Bad, to mark pages for deletion and such, but is it justified?

Ive been adding {{delete2 |Inappropriate use of Tribal pages. User needs to register and create a personal page. Please stop creating user pages }} to pages created for other players, and a similiar one for user pages not on User:(nickname). Is this appropriate or am i a blundering idiot? :S - Demonviper16

Zord Gaf

Any idea who Zord Gaf is? He has the ability to protect pages and block users, yet he's done very little on the wiki and has no apparent legitimate powers.

Not seeing such page, link?
I tried putting the link in but couldn't get it right, so to find it follow these steps.
  1. Click My Contributions at the top of the page.
  2. Click Logs beneath the title.
  3. Change the drop down to User Rights Log and erase your user name from the next area, then hit enter.

Tribeopedia

In World 6 in the Tribeopedia the tribe called 'The Last Stand' Has an externall link to freewebs there instead of an internal link to a wiki page for that tribe. I want to know if this is alowed or not. I still know that I ain't a sys-op but I am trying to regain that title by fixing up the Tribeopedia and I was just Wondering.

Project

O.o Not sure if I really need your approval for a project, but do you mind if I start a project? Its similar to a previous one I can't seem to find any longer from Akira, but I just wrote it up in Notepad. Thus, I have it prepared to be made into an active page.

Its a 'get active' project for users called "Happy-Wiki"; I was wondering if, after i added it, you could add it to the main page, thus giving it more visualization and greater impact on users coming to the site.

Long RE: Test Wiki

Hi Oscardog,

Sorry for the long wait on the reply.

I had found a very sutible hosting sevice that was free to host the wiki on, but Locust thought that it was a stupid Idea that wouldn't work etc... so I just scraped it. And since it took you forever to reply about it (No Offence) I thought that you obviously didn't care or concern about it at the time which was the 2nd half of the reason why I scraped it.

I can still find the place that I hosted this wiki on and restart the test wiki if you want me too, it wouldn't be a problem at all.

The reasons for the Test Wiki were to help us test new and usefull Ideas that could, If applied incorrectly, Could seriously damage this wiki and we might possibly lose some irriplaceable data. This is why I created it so that I could test it on that wiki first and once that worked then I could put it onto this wiki.

It is all up to you Oscardog.

HELP ME

Hi Oscardog,

At approximatly 8:25 PM on Wendnesday Febuary 13 I suddenly got a change in the appearance of the wiki and know it looks alot more discusting and I was wondering if you have got a change too. If you haven't then please let me know anyway and please tell me how I could possibly fix this. I think that somebody has changed the CSS of the default Skin to do this because the preview still hasn't changed.

A question

Oscardog, when I try to edit a page, a small text box comes up with "Find", "Save" and "Cancel" options. I have tried "Find", no help. Tried "Save", doesn't load. Cancel is of no use. Point Two. I have no idea what the "find" button is. After im done editing a page i have "Save" "Preview" and "Cancel". Index.. Why on earth are you trying to edit index? There is no need, and i actually have no idea why you would need to.. So just edit normal pages.

World Rankings Project

Hello Oscardog,

I believe a simple alternating color can keep attention, perhaps a light grey with an offset white. Otherwise, too many colors can be unappealing to viewers, effectively making it repulsive. Just an idea ;] - 97.101.43.207 06:07, 14 February 2008 (CET)

Vandal

Checking the Recent Changes you can see that 'YoYo' has been vandalizing major pages, Including the IRC page and the Homepage itself. I've reverted these pages and warned him through his User page, but I believe it'd be more effective if you contacted him.

At the moment..

I'm trying to focus on existing pages - prior to my coming - as I personally excel in composition and grammar, revamping these pages and shifting the wiki that much further (not much) towards some degree of perfection. This goal is reflected in the Happy-Wiki project. ;)

Question

Really good extention for the Wiki

Hey Oscardog,

I was wondering how soon it would take you to get FTP access to this wiki because I think that I have found something very helpful that we could put on our wiki. The link is Here Which will take you to the Mediawiki page with this information and the code on it. Please message me on my talk page about this but I think that this could be a very good Idea for things like the talk etc... on the Adminship request page. e.g: You have a lot of text under your name, you get accepted and then , using this you can keep the text but it will be hidden under the name so that when you click on the name a drop down box will appear on the same page with all of the text on it. Once again I think that this is a wonderful idea that I think is defianatly worth considering. I am currently trying to find a Wiki with an example on it to show you.

The idea of this Community based Wiki is to allow users the ability to remain anonymous while posting. Regardless what you may believe is right for the Wiki, some people will turn away from sites if they're forced to do something - especially registering. It has been removed, however if you go to Here you will see and can even test that the border around the custom TOC will automatically Wrap around the contents box and if their isn't a contents box then the border will appear as a small box in the top right corner of the page. Can I just ask, what is Index.php, and why is it locked from editing? AO

Test Wiki

Just to let you know, within about a month I will be providing a test wiki funded by myself to help us test extentions for the wiki that we might possibly put in, This is to minimise the possibility of us coding something wrong and stuffing up our wiki. Yes, It can be archived, however I really think that things like, messing with localsettings.php etc... should always be taken with extreme care as we don't know the extent of damage that we could cause editing something incorrectly. ALSO... some extentions may not be compatible with others and we can edit extentions with a test wiki without the worry of stuffing up the wiki. Think about it, is it worth a small amount of money to host a wiki for 3 months, or 2 days of offline wiki and maybe even a partly destroyed wiki?? I will continue this later. So what do you want me to do Oscardog?? Drop my project, continue?? Because I thought that we could use the test wiki like a sandbox... For example: The main page, you didn't put everything that is on the new main page slowly into the old main page, you created a separtate page so that you could do this. then copy everything over the top of the old main page so it seems like it was all done at once, however it was in fact done over serveral days, even weeks. I'd say it is. If you don't play, you can be of no use to the Wiki in updating it, you can make updates and all, but you can't go into the Tribal Wars interface to get a proper view of the issues going on. AO by the way, AO stands for Akira Otomo, and links to my User Page.
I'd say you don't have to be actively involved in the game itself to be a Sysop here. And, AO, you should check Oscar's page, where it says "I decided to quit TW". There should not be a penalty if you're outside of the game. --Jjjtts6Sysop 21:26, 19 February 2008 (CET)

I never EVER meant it to come out like that I defiantely don't think that I am a sysop!
The only reason why I sent that to AO was because it was like he was assulting me when I had done nothing to him. I didn't mean it as blackmail, And I defianately don't think that I am a sysop. I just wanted him to stop as it looked bad for me and He opposed me twice for things that he shouldn't said, like 'How do you know that he won't abandon us again' and he repetitivly talked about how I don't have a TW account, which I do.

Hi Oscardog,

I havn't told anybody to do any such thing. It is a personal project that will be a major overhaul from the previous Tribeopedia. This way it will be so much easier to track tribes and their worlds and this will also alow us to make sure that you don't have any invalid links in the tribeopedia.
