Thanks Alot

Hey Shred. Thanks alot for reverting all the vandalism from that IP user. I previously banned his account for an offence, so he vandalised the Wiki from another IP... I would of sorted it sooner but i was at school and the website is blocked :(

Thanks again --Oscardog(Talk) 16:59, 17 December 2007 (CET)

I'm glad to help, and will try to do what I can. I wondered why he suddenly stopped vandalizing things last night =P Shredator

No idea. Because of your excellent work, and your 100 or so reverts, i would like to present to you the rollback right. The undo does work, but its annoying and slow. With the rollback right, it's one click and all revisions from THAT user, are undone. Will you accept this right, and promise to use it in a controlled way and mature way? Im sure you will, just have to ask tho ;)

Hope to hear from you soon, --Oscardog(Talk) 22:25, 17 December 2007 (CET)

Thanks Oscar, sounds nice. A lot of times I find pages vandalized multiple times by the same user, and being able to undo only one action, I have to go through and rewrite what is left of it by hand. So, if I understand it correctly, this could save a lot of work. Thanks Oscardog, and thanks for trusting me with it. I promise to use it in a controlled and mature way :) - Shredator

Hey, slight error in the mediawiki software. We require either an update from mediawiki, or i need FTP access to the Mediawiki files, which i need to aquire from the TW team(Morthy, i believe as he started it). So the right will be "delayed" slightly, but should be with you within 2-3weeks. Sorry for the delay, keep up the good work. --Oscardog(Talk) 09:41, 18 December 2007 (CET)

Oh, lol, ok. Thanks, I wondered about that, I guess I'll just keep doing my thing then - Shredator

Minor update, i have requested FTP access and i believe Morthy will be gaining it soon, and then he will make alterations to the code for me. So shouldn't be too long! --Oscardog(Talk) 21:04, 18 December 2007 (CET)

Great Job

Hey Shredator, great job keeping up with all this vandalism. Keep up the good work and congrats on the new priviledge.--Jjjtts6 05:07, 18 December 2007 (CET)

Thanks Jjjtts6, and great work yourself, It's not hard to find places you've fixed and written, as you've done so much. Keep up the excellent work, we're really making an impact here. -Shredator

Sysop...

Now normally you have to apply, but because im the only admin/sysop that logs everyday i need some help. And you are very active, and im sure i can trust you, so will you accept the gift of sysop, promising to use it wisely and maturely? --64.118.88.180 09:44, 19 December 2007 (CET)

Just so you know, that was me above... For some reason the proxy i was using logged me out before i posted. But the offer still stands of course :P Hope to hear from you soon. --Oscardog(Talk) 16:56, 19 December 2007 (CET)
Any decision yet? --Oscardog(Talk) 20:20, 19 December 2007 (CET)

I'd love to be a Sysop, that would be awesome =). So, I guess I gratefully accept and promise to use it wisely and maturely. - Shredator Thanks Oscardog, you're awesome.

Congratulations

Congratz. Im sure you will use it usefully, remain active and above all else help the community grow! Btw do you like the slight modifications I made to the layout(looks good in IE, so hope ur using IE lol)... Just moved the Bar at the top around, so its more neat ;) Like it? --Oscardog(Talk) 20:26, 19 December 2007 (CET)

I usually use Mozilla, so I switched over and loaded the page in IE to see how it looks, and the change looks good. It's nice that the top bar doesn't lay under the main one any more, but then again, it did make an interesting tabs effect. Shredator

I like it, it's awesome, can't wait until I figure out how to use all this. It may take some time to get figured out, and I'll probably have questions about it in time. Thanks Oscardog, I'll try to earn this status. - Shredator

Well, to be honest i'm certainly not an expert. I used to be a big contributer on anoter wiki, until i got into being admin on here... check out Dofus Wikia and the first page will load the quartz skin, all designed from scratch... god it looks awesome lol.
If you want to test out some things, i'll explain a few things. Firstly if you go to Mediawiki:Monobook.css that is where you make changes to the css code, for the monobook skin(Most users use this, not sure if you do or not). But it's obviously not the whole script, the rest is kept on a database on the innogames server which Morthy is getting FTP access to soon. If you want to make a change, so it effects all skins, go to Mediawiki:Common.css. Anything put there will effect all skins. If you want to make an announcement, like the one at the top of the page(The one with Merry Xmas etc) then go to Mediawiki:Sitenotice. For the moment, don't add anything else otherwise it takes up too much room at the top ;). Finally, all of these things can be found at the System Messages page. I don't know the exact URL but you can find it by going to Special Pages --> System Messages. As you will see, there are alot ;) Most are fine as they are, but the CSS etc all appear there, and i made some modifications to certain messages, such as the message that appears when people are blocked.
Finally if you want some light reading to get to know your new tools you can visit Meta Wiki. Its very useful and gives tips on how to use the new powers, and the "correct" procedure(I ignore the procedure part as its always long and takes time lol). Just remember, if you to change CSS etc, revert ASAP if it goes wrong... I was fiddling with CSS last night and got a few angry emails "What did you do to my page, it went all distorted for a little bit". Dam i wasn't quick enough lol. Well gl and have fun! --Oscardog(Talk) 11:18, 20 December 2007 (CET)
Any of the above stuff useful? --Oscardog(Talk) 21:01, 21 December 2007 (CET)

Yeah, there's a lot of information there. I haven't finished reading it all yet, I'll have to do that after I finish this message. Sorry I haven't done much recently, the last few days have been nuts. Once the holidays are over it should go back to normal. - Shredator

Np. I was at a friends yesterday/today so haven't been on. Gl with the reading ;) Im currently working on some more complex CSS coding for the website. I would love to make a new skin, but that will be a lot more months yet, maybe when other sysops such as yourself get better with CSS it might be possible. I'm currently working on things that effect all CSS skins, such as the "edit" "discussion" bar... Its really starting to annoy me that it overflows on the "watch" button when in edit mode, so that will be one of my first tasks... Then I'm going to make it so the buttons sit on the top part of the Content Area, much like on dofus wikia but this is quite complex and will require some hard work. So thats my plan for the next few days, also check out New Main Page Design this will hopefully be completed within the next week and then implemented once it has approval from the community. Hopefully while the approval takes place, users will point out flaws/things that need changing so the main page can be more useful. Have a good Holiday! (Btw, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I'm 16, and if you don't want others to know you can just email me) Ciao! --Oscardog(Talk) 00:13, 22 December 2007 (CET)

I'm still trying to figure out a lot of that stuff, it will take some trial and error probably. So, I 'm probably going to play around with it later tonight, just incase I do mess something up, less people will be annoyed by it. And I'm 16 as well, and a little over two months to 17 ;). Have a great holiday!

New Main Page

Hey Shred. Hope you don't mind i shortened your name, feel free to call me Oscar(My RL name isn't Oscar, btw :P). Anyway i have set-up a page Here so that users can visit where the new main page is, and then suggest changes to it. Feel free to leave a comment to ;) --Oscardog(Talk) 14:49, 22 December 2007 (CET)

It looks great, I like the changes. Shred is just fine for me, and I'll call you Oscar, if that's what you prefer. Good work.

-Shredator

I left my two cents worth on the new discussion page. Can I call the two of you Things 1 and 2? :P --Jjjtts6 04:32, 23 December 2007 (CET)

Lol, you can call me thing one or two if you want to, but am I one, or am I two? -Shredator

How about Oscar and Shred? Easier to remember lmao. --Oscardog(Talk) 12:09, 23 December 2007 (CET)

I know, I was just kidding :) Great job any ways --Jjjtts6 17:20, 23 December 2007 (CET)

Yah, lol, it's easy to remember Oscar and ... ah geez, what was the other one? -Shredator

Hols

Hey Shred. Am away on hols for about 8days, skiing in austria. Gl with keeping the wiki in order. Good Luck!

--Oscardog(Talk) 14:35, 26 December 2007 (CET)

Wow, skiing in Austria, that sounds like a lot of fun. Well, have a good time then, talk to you when you get back.

--Shredator

Back ;) Good work while i was gone i see. Keep it up, i'll be here to help from now on as usual. --Oscardog(Talk) 17:22, 3 January 2008 (CET)

Welcome back :). Not a lot has really happened, some people advertising whatever, one minor vandal, and even some regular contributing users. I guess it's time to take down the happy new years, as that was a few days ago.

CSS Changes to Nav Bar at the top

Hey i have got that help i was talking about from an old friend from a wiki i used to contribute on alot, until i was attracted to this wiki. If the changes havn't appeared yet, hit Ctrl+F5 and it will refresh the cache allowing you to see the changes. Basically it now has a transparent background, so the buttons look like they are sitting on the line. The border is the same colour as the background, so it looks good. To make them stand out a little more i gave them a background the same as the line below it. I may decide to remove the border as im not sure about it yet, so your comments are greatly welcomed there... Also i may change the colour of the buttons border when they are selected. Finally, to make them a little more exciting, i added a hover feature, so that when you hover your mouse over the buttons, the background colour changes. Again im not 100% sure about it yet so your comments are again welcomed.

Lastly, you will notice that on the left, in the navigation boxes and on the recent changes page the bullet points are now a lighter blue and that when hovered over they change to a yellowy/orange... I looove it, except i want to change the colour of the Rollover bullet point(the Yellowly/orange one) but i am yet to find a place that has an image of a suitable Bullet point. Feel free to upload a bullet point and "point" it out to me(lol sorry bout the chessy joke) and then i will make the alterations and see!

Ok ok really last point lol as the community doesn't seem to want to leave comments about the new main page it will be implimented on Monday, then any further comments will be taken into account and changed accordingly.

Thanks. Hope to hear from you soon! --Oscardog(Talk) 12:06, 6 January 2008 (CET)

Alright, that sounds great! The only things I have found about the recent changes are that on mozilla, the tab/s selected at the top doesn't have to orangish lining that it has on internet explorer. And the second is that the bullets that appear when you rollover a category in the quick find menu at the top, if you select one that is farthest to the left (struggling for a name here >_>), the bullet point appears outside the box instead of inside like the farther right menus. Otherwise the changes are pretty sweet, I need to figure out how to do all that >_<.
Shredator

Hmm.. Could you get me a screenshot of the bullet points appearing outside the box's on the porlets(Technical name for them i think) because when i tested them on both Opera and FF they looked fine on my 800x600 monitor(laptop screen :P) so yeh a screenshot would be helpful. Thanks, and if you go to the libary, or look on the internet there are guides to CSS that give a good start... Then just play around with the CSS and make sure you revert it, if it goes wrong. --Oscardog(Talk) 20:34, 6 January 2008 (CET)

Ok, here are pictures of both FF and IE. Image:FF.jpg Image:IE.jpg

I checked and it did it on both browsers for me, but if it doesn't do it on yours, maybe it's something weird about this computer? I'll check in a little while to see if it does that to others.

-Shredator

New Buttons

As you will probably notice, when you go to edit a page there are 13 new buttons! Using the Wikipedia help i "installed" 18 new ones, then decided to remove 5 as:

  • They were not going to be used
  • They were forcing onto a second line making it look untidy

And i thought i knew nothing about Javascript! Yet i managed to edit it so there were less buttons, guess there is still hope for me yet! Over the next few weeks, with your permission, i would like to create a personal CSS for you. Dont worry it wont have HUGE code, and it wont look much different. It's just when i need to test something, i'd like a second opinion so would that be ok with you? If i could add the css i would like an opinion on, and then after getting your opinion i'd make changes/then add to the main css so everyone can benfit. Thanks! Keep up the good work! --OscardogTalk.::.Administrator 12:05, 13 January 2008 (CET)

Wow, that is an awesome upgrade. Even some of the basic things I've played with have a habit of not working for me, and with the buttons, I won't need to look up code as often. I can imagine that the buttons will make a lot of contributors use other effects, which may be a nice change.

And about the CSS, you don't really need to ask permission from me, but go for it. Break a leg! Err, um, don't break a leg, that hurts. Just, kinda... yeah.

Changes(Sysops)

Hey dude, gone a bit inactive lately, well less than normal anyway.. :( But still, better than Ocbaker and Locust, who as you have seen have been removed. We are recruiting 1-2 more sysops. So i'll need your verdict on the candidates, when they apply. --OscardogTalk.::.Administrator 20:07, 23 January 2008 (CET)

Yeah, I have not been able to get on very often in the last little while, sorry about that. Things have been a little hectic. I'll try to be on a little more regularly. I'll keep my eye out for new sysops though, someone should pop up sooner or later. Sorry about your villages by the way, since I guess you went from 40k to nothing. -Shredator

Oh, and I think I'll add- Right now, my vote for a new sysop would go to Jjjtts6, as he has been here for longer than I have and he has done a lot of good work. He has not been on for a while though, which makes me wonder.
Yeh, he PM'ed me, he has got exams or something... So he wont be on for a little while, when he returns i may offer him sysop. But for now, we will select one more if there are any good applicants

Vandalism

Added a new category: [[Category:Bad]]. Not sure if it'd be helpful, but it'd make it easier to tag vandalised pages for those who don't know how to undo it or pages needing deletion - made a page for it. ;] - Demonviper16 00:57, 3 February 2008 (CET)

It's not a bad idea, when I have the time I will go through and see how many of them can be saved. Several of the were once legit tribe pages, that later disbanded and the owners deleted everything. In those cases, I usually like to restore the page, then add a note at the top saying that it no longer exists, a historical reference if you will.
Never thought of a non-existant note.. Do we have a template for it? We can edit the delete tag for it :P
That's a good idea, making a tribe disbanded template. I'll have to look into it sometime.
I'll let you handle it. I'm not so great at the scripting part, gota focus, and no time for focusing atm. - Demonviper16

I've finished making it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, tell me what you think.

Looks nice, i'd add an optional space for 'original creator' of the page, but that's not needed, you can check history for that i suppose. Looks nice. :]

Vote for me

Hello Shreadator,

My username is Ocbaker and I was wondering what it would take me to do to get you to vote for me, I am very easy to teach and I am already an Ex-Sysop of this wiki so I can do quite a lot. If you could vote for me or tell me what I have got to do to earn it.
Yours, Ocbaker 18:51, 12 February 2008 (CET)

I've seen some of your work and have looked over your old talk page, so I know a little about you. Seeing as you have past experience and are an honest contributer, I would be happy to add my support.
-Shredator

Help Me Please

Hi Shreadator,

I need to update the disclaimer policy and the Privacy Policy at the bottom to add some new information but it is locked. Could you please lock them two for me and then lock the about Tribalwars at the bottom. Would be Much Appreciated,
Ocbaker 18:56, 13 February 2008 (CET)

Ok, I will temporarily unlock them and let you go at it.
Oscardog beat me to it, go ahead and do your work when you're on.
-Shredator

Hey, Shredator. Remember me?

I see you're a sysop now... Well good for you. Shows how much I've fallen behind the times, it's really been a while since I had checked back on this site. Guess I inadvertently had a lot to do with your rapid ascension to authority, was unexpected of course, but I'm sure you deserve it for reverting all the vandalism I did. First the time consuming undos, then the rollback, and now a sysop. Well kudos to you.

Have a great life both online and in real life. -141.76.45.34 Submitted via proxy.

Hello again. I guess I wasn't expecting to see you again. Yep, things have changed somewhat since you were here, and I'm sure you played no small part in my becoming sysop.

Well, nice to see you again too, take care- -Shredator

Saturday

Well, all of today/Saturday I've been skiing in the mountains, which is why I haven't done anything here today. I'll be here now though.

Welcome back, hope you had fun. :) I've filled the Delete category for you to go through ;) - Demon - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Template needs adding :)

I would add it myself, but i dont want to ruin your nice neat page. On your USER page(and talk page if you like) can you please add :

{{Sysop}}

Just to aid users, and let them who you have power!!! :) Thanks! --OscardogTalk.::.Admin

Paladin - Statue merge

Read the Talk page for paladin - i posted the merge I was about to make until you posted that. :P - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Sorry about that, bad timing I guess. Still though, I think merging them would make it look less organized and harder to find. With them as one page, in the units and buildings pages, there would be an odd, statue paladin in each. Instead, I think it would be better to leave each page categorized as they are, then put a not on each page directing to a merged page, with a little more information concerning each and their relationship to one another. -Shredator
Sounds good, make a paladin and statue page for that table without a category, just put links on the two pages? - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Images

Why undo image deletes? Those city images have nothing to do with TribalWars. :\ looks more like people trying to store images for use on other websites. you restored duplicates aswell.. - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project 02:57, 20 February 2008 (CET)

I don't remember restoring any images of cities, though I think I know which images you're referring to. Can you make me a link? - On second thought, I know which images you're talking about, I still don't remember ever having restored them though. We'll see what that guy's response to your message is, assuming he responds.
You undid all deletes i made of images - Oscardog told me to remove old, irrelevant images, so i did. Still unsure why you went behind my and undid all of the deletes. - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

That doesn't tell me anything. I don't remember ever having restored them, and I can't find it in my contributions history? When did I supposedly restore them?

Well, someone was undoing all of them, because they all appeared back in the unused file section - i watched them get un-deleted. o.O Who else would've, considering it was Oscardog that told me to do them. :\ I suppose i'll need to ask Oscardog. - Demon (don't wana log in, going to bed)
And you never checked to see who was undeleting them, then blamed me? It's not a big deal. If you want to delete them again, go crazy. -Shredator
I see your point, i'm sorry i jumped the gun on calling you out. Tbh, idc anymore, i'm just not going to delete things. I'll stick to what i do - go edit crazy. xD - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Ty for re-deleting those.

Stubs

I'd just like to leave a little note here, for some of those people that I assume will read it sometime. Lay off the tribe stubs a little. A stub on an article is understandable, if there is information missing, or simply not enough. A tribe, on the other hand, often does not have very much information in the first place, being small, new, or simply peaceful. A tribe being a limited thing, only tribe members can really add to the information accurately. This being said, regular editors can't add to it, and it will likely remain a stub forever.

In short, it's not necessary to stub ever tribe page you come across, simply because it is short. Use the tribe stub template sparingly ;). Thanks for reading - Shredator

I Agree, and we do not need to know the page has limited information. Users cannot edit others Tribal pages, so the only person that can change it is the person who made the page. So yeh go easy on Tribe Stubs :) --OscardogTalk.::.Admin

Re image

  1. If i changed the fade color, it'd conflict between skins, thus i can't make it fade to a specific color, otherwise i'd need another one for every skin.
  2. I can't remove the boxes, because i can't draw the structures back.
  3. I only put 10 or less slides on an animation or else the size gets fairly big :\- DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Lol, I get it. The boxes are showing the levels of the buildings, I don't know why that never occurred to me. I'm not sure if the main page box changes color by skins, since it's color code is in the script, I don't think it would. I'll have to check in a sec. - On the basic skins that are already there to be chosen in preferences, the color doesn't change. I'm not sure if that applies to Oscardog's custom skins or not though.
Oscardog's skins change the colors of the entire Wiki, so there's no way around that. However, i have made a new image consisting of 24 slides, letting it fade better. - DemonSysOp - Talk .:|:. Happy-Wiki Project

Revisions to the Save/Preview Buttons

Im just curious what you think of the modifications made to the save page button, instead of just being able to click save you now must preview. This is one measure im trialing to prevent bots and vandals from attacking the wiki, a vandal will not want to sit and wait for pages to load and will get bored after 1-2 :) Bots cannot handle breaks in code, and will not expect the save button to be unavaliable so will just crash. It might be annoying, i find it alright, but what do you think? Thanks! --OscardogTalk.::.Admin

It's a little annoying, but tolerable. In bigger projects, I always preview before I post them anyways, so it's not a big deal. Hopefully it will work out the auto spam bots though. -Shredator

Hey Shredator want to explain why I deleted the Spartan Empire page.

I am part of the tribal aristocracy of one of the tribes in it. This page was created without any of us knowing about it and we don't actually want it in here. Moreover the information is not up to date. Because there were lots of changes and one of the tribes listed in there is not part of this Empire(SE-D, which is the tribe I am in).

No one updates it and the info in it is completely wrong.

Vacationing

For the past three weeks, I've been off on a few trips. I didn't think to put any type of notice here until it was too late >_<.

Noblemen

This is aimed at either Shredator or anyone of any nobling experience.

Sorry if this goes down in the wrong area or if i'm asking the wrong person, but the expanse of this wiki site has lost me completely, so i'm just dropping this here and hoping somone replies! :-P

I am logged into world 16 and have just nobled my first village, albeit a barbarian village, but you've got to start somewhere right? Well now i want to move on and educate another nobleman to conquer some more villages to gather resources even faster, but i can't seem to educate another nobleman out of my academy! I have stockpiled the 56k wood, 60k clay and 50k iron required in the academy itself, but where i clicked before to educate my first nobleman, i am presented with the information that 'no more nobleme can be produced'. I have discussed this in my tribal forum and have explored the help features as much far as i am aware i can, and yet i still don't know why i'm unable to educate more. Do i need to research my academy to the next level? or can i only educate 1 nobleman per village? or am i missing something really simple??? I also have a village in world 25 too - do the same noblemen rules apply here as well?

Again i am sorry if this has fallen into the wrong area, or if i a need to be an account hold specifically to this website to source any answers, but if anyone reading this can either point me in the right direction, or better yet, tell me what it is that i need to do, then could you reply directly to my email address at boobank2004@yahoo.co.uk with a message title of 'Tribal Wars', cause if you just respond to this i fear i won't be able to find this point again! :-)

Thank you!
