Defensive Strategies
Below is a useful list of Defensive Strategies that you can use to your advantage in the game. Enjoy!
Defence
Wall Strategy
Building up the level of your wall can never be a bad thing. A village's wall adds both base defense and raises military units' defense by a set percent. With a high level wall you can more than double the effectiveness of your defensive units. You will lose less units and your enemy more -- hopefully costing your opponent more than it does you. Using walls effectively allows even weak villages to hold against larger numbers.
Dodging
When an enemy has sent many nukes to all your villages, or even just a few to one of your villages, dodging is often a good defensive strategy if you cannot stack the village in time (stacking defined below). What you do, is send out all the troops from the village and let the attack land while they are away, then bring them back. This may reduce your wall to 0, and you should NEVER do this if you have the capacity to stack all villages under attack effectively (and NEVER against a noble train), but you keep your troops. This helps you snipe trains later on, and stall for time to get more troops to defend the village.
Sniping
When you are confronted with a noble train, it sometimes seems like there is little you can do. Though this is for the most part true, there are defenses that can save your village. In order to survive the train, you have to kill at least one or two of the nobles through the protection of their armies. It is always a good idea to build your wall when anticipating an attack, as well as building as many troops as you can.
Sniping As mentioned before, is a tactic that can be used to attack less defended nobles in a train. In efficient noble trains, there will usually be a clearing wave of troops to destroy your military before the Nobles arrive, reducing risk to them. Sniping is a tactic that sends all of your troops on some small errand before they arrive, like supporting or farming a village near you and having the troops return home after the clearing waves but before the final noble attack. This will preserve your military, and though the enemy will take all your resources, you will still stand a solid chance of killing their nobles, a very expensive loss to them. You may also want to spend all of the resources that you can to prevent them from being plundered. After having lost nobles, your enemy will usually decide to attack someone else, or at least take a few days to get new nobles, giving you time to prepare.
Another method that is more difficult that involves Sniping is sending out the troops intended to snipe the train, and then cancelling the troop movement so that the troops return in between nobles. This is a more difficult method however, than the aforementioned one and the one below.
Another method that is (I believe) easier and more effective requires more than one village. However, it requires the ability to be online to launch the troops:
First, one must write down the amount of time it takes to send a certain troop to the village under attack. One must open a window used to send the support from said village to the village under attack, and the support must be timed to land in between the nobles coming towards the village under attack.
Self Support/Stacking
This tactic is useful for taking out a large attacking force. You send part or all of your military from one or more of your villages to the one that will be attacked so you can have a better chance of surviving the attack. This might not work if some one is using too many nukes on you. One must send many troops to stop the nukes effectively.
It is easiest to use the simulator to see if the support you plan to send has the ability to kill all the incoming attacks (provided the attacks are all nukes at full build). Remember, the more defensive troops there are in the village, the fewer losses you receieve.
Panic Attacks
These attacks do exactly as they say, they cause panic and more importantly destruction

Nuclear Shelter
These tactics will save SOME of your villages, it is almost impossible to successfully save all of your villages from a Nuke if it is done correctly
Self Support/Stacking (Shelter Version)
This tactic is useful for taking out a large attacking force. You MUST send all of your military from ALL your villages to the the one with the earliest arriving attacks, this should save that village.
More Information
Depending on the amount of villages you have you should be able to save one or more of your villages.
Estimated villages saved, depending on starting villages: 4 villages: 1-2 saved
8 villages: 2-3 saved
12 villages: 4-5 saved
16 villages: 5-7 saved
20 villages: 7-9 saved
24 villages: 8-10 saved
However, keep in mind these numbers vary on the size of the attacker, the amount of incoming nukes/attacks, and the general progression of the world. If you have 4 villages, for example, and your attacker has 20+, no matter how much support you send to one village there is almost no way that you could kill all the troops the attacker sends at you without the help of your tribe.
It is always best to keep from sending all your troops to one village, however, because if one does this they leave their other villages to nobling.
Nobling Your Way Out
OK, this depends on how far away the Nuke is: if it is still 2 to 4 hours away, this will work You will need 5 nobles, it doesn't matter if they are in the same village. You will need to send a noble train to a nearby abandoned village if there are any within range. You will need to send a clearing force with the first 3 attacks and a largish force with the last 1 or 2 attacks If you do this right it should help prevent you from having to restart completely.
However, this method does not help you keep your village, and it may be better to restart. If you take the village, your opponent will probably notice, and noble the village once you have built it up far enough for him/her.
Counter Strike
This involves use of a noble train or nuke and the self support strategy.
You will need to send all support to the village that is going to be attacked first and you will need to send a noble train to the village that sent most of the attacks therefore you take over their village and they will end up with part of their army destroyed.
Be warned, if the nobles are far away this will probably not work as the player will probably have stacked his own village with defense.
