[edit] Village

[edit] Why can't I build all buildings right from the beginning?

You have to pass a requirement by upgrading other buildings before constructing other buildings. For example, in order to construct the Academy, you need a level 20 Village Headquarters, a level 20 Smithy, and a level 10 Market.

[edit] How do I make loyalty?

You can't. Loyalty goes up by itself by 1 per hour, until to the maximum of 100. (1 per hour is based on server speed 1. On speed 5 it would go up by 5 per hour). You can't speed it up in any way. You only see the Loyalty if it's not 100. Loyalty will go down if you are attacked with a Nobleman. If your loyalty reaches 0 or below you lose your village and you will have to start a new one (if it's your only one). However, once the enemy has taken your village, it will start with 25 loyalty so you have a chance to take it back.

[edit] If I downgrade a building in the headquarters do I get the resources I used to build it back?

No, the resources spent to upgrade the building are lost in the de-construction.
However, you can still manage more resources through your resource gathering structures, so its not a permanent bar of any sorts. Simply a temporary set back in resources.

[edit] If I cancel a building in my queue do I get my resources back?

Yes, but only with buildings. With troop-building, you only get back 90% if you cancel. So think wisely when making troops.

[edit] What good does it do to downgrade or demolish a building?

It lowers your points, which improves your troops morale offensively, and it harms the morale of potential attackers; It also can be used to free up population space for a possibly larger army!

You should only start demolishing buildings after your Academy has reached its highest level. Also, buildings such as the Smithy and the Workshop are useless in a defensive village, thus demolishing frees space for more troops.

[edit] Premium

[edit] What is a premium account?

By having a premium account, you are entitled to extra features. A few of the features included are a customizable map, more building construction slots, and in-depth overviews.

[edit] How do I get a premium account?

By spending premium points. Premium accounts are non-transferable, so make sure to buy it in the desired world. Go to Premium > Purchase, then choose your country, method of payment, and how many premium points you would like to buy.

[edit] What are premium points?

Premium points are used to pay for a premium account on any world. To earn premium points, you must donate to TW. To donate or find out about your premium status, go to premium at the top of your page after you log in to the desired world.

[edit] Diplomacy and Tribes

[edit] How do I accept the invitation to a tribe?

When you click on the Tribe button, you see all the invitations to Tribes that you have received unless you are already in one. If you are still a member of another tribe, all invitations will show up on your reports list, and if you want join another tribe, you must leave your current one by clicking Leave Tribe in the corner of the tribe overview.

[edit] Why can't I send someone an invitation to my tribe?

This problem can be a result of various status reasons within your tribe account.

  1. Check that your tribe limit isn't exceeded; Active invites to potential members are still counted. If this is the case, you must cancel an active invite or dismiss a current member of your tribe (if you have the priviledge to) before you can invite more members.
  2. Check that you have sufficient privileges within the tribal hierarchy to invite users. In all tribes, the Duke must grant you access to invitational privileges.
  3. Check that the player you're attempting to invite isn't already on the roster of Pending invites. Users that've already been invited by your tribe cannot be invited again until they're removed or they deny/accept.

[edit] How do I leave my tribe?

There is a "Leave tribe" button right on top of the private announcement on the tribe overview page. If you are the only duke of your tribe, you have to either promote somebody else to duke before you leave, or disband the tribe. (The disband button is under Tribe > Properties)

[edit] How do I do diplomacy?

Firstly you have to have the ability to set the tribe's diplomacy (Dukes and Barons have this automatically, can be given to players by them too) in your tribe, then click, Tribe > Diplomacy > Then type in the tribe Tag (not the name) and select Ally, NAP or Enemy then click ok.

[edit] Can I declare war with my tribe on one person?

Yes, you and your tribe can declare war on just one person, but that would be a waste of time for your tribe (Of course you can declare war on a person and drag one or two other tribe members into it to help you, it's just not possible to mark that person on the map [unless you have a Premium Account] But you can write the war into the tribe profile).

[edit] War

[edit] How do I make an army?

First off, you will have to build up your Headquarters up to level 3. Then you can build your Barracks, where you can train Spear Fighters, and then after you upgrade your smithy Swordsman and Axeman. (Archers too, in some worlds). Check out the help for more information. Then you can build up your stables and workshop and get some light cavalry, heavy cavalry, rams and catapults into your attack force.

[edit] How do I upgrade all of my troops?

On some worlds like for example 19 you can upgrade your troops at your smithy to a higher lvl that goes up to 20 but if it is one of those kinds of worlds you cannot make a paladin.

[edit] What does support mean?

If you send support troops to another village, these troops will defend that village if it gets attacked. On some servers; if you send support with a Paladin, the support will go as fast as the Paladin. The support cannot be sent to other villages from where they are stationed, they can only be sent back to their home.

[edit] How long will my support troops stay in the village I send them to?

Until either the owner of the supported village sends them back, you withdraw them, or until they are killed.

[edit] How do I withdraw support from a village?

To withdraw support, go to the Rally Point -> Troops. From here you can view and send back the support in your villages or withdraw your support in other villages.

[edit] Why can't I control the troops that somebody else sent me as support?

You can only control troops belonging to you and only when they are in their home village. You can't use them to attack another village from the supported village. You can, however, send them back to their original village (see above).

[edit] If I send support to a village and then attack it, do my men fight each other?

Yes, they will fight against each other. This is used by many players that have a lot of villages. Say they were making farm space for a nobleman; they would send 100 or so troops to a village with lots of defenders inside of it (i.e spearmen, swordsmen and archers in some worlds) to kill them and when they have been killed they would have the farm space to build more troops.

[edit] How far can I attack to plunder resources?

Theoretically, there is no max, but most people don't want to wait too long for their troops to attack and come back. However, If you are patient enough, any distance is allowed.

[edit] What is luck?

Luck is a number chosen at random, it can be positive or negative, and can vary from +25% to -25%. A luck of +25% raises the attacker's power by 25%. The luck cannot be influenced in any way. Luck determines how well your troops do when attacking.

[edit] If in an attack you have bad luck, will you have good luck in the next?

Like said above, it is completely random. It isn't influenced in any way, shape, or form by previous success or failure.

[edit] How are battles done?

  • When attacking, the unit uses the attack value.
  • When defending, the defense value.

The battle itself is affected by luck, morale (see questions 18 and 3), and walls.

Note: You can use the simulator to figure potential losses or wins on larger opponents by entering your target units used and a guesstimation of your opponents defenses. This will estimate your chances of survival. This tool may be found at Rally Point -> Simulator.

[edit] Is the only way to take over villages using nobles, or can you do it by sending enough troops?

Only a nobleman can take over a village.

[edit] Can I attack/take over an abandoned/barbarian village?

Yes.You can do anything with an abandoned village that you can do with any other village.

[edit] Why can't I control the troops I just used to take over a village?

The troops are just supporting the village after a takeover. You have to send them back home to be able to use them for an attack again. To do this go in your rally point and then send them back where they are supposed to be.

Consider them as 'garrisoned' units. They are only there to defend your village and nothing else. Command/Control still belongs to the mother village. The only command you may execute is 'send them back.'

[edit] What happens when my village gets taken over?

If you have one village, you get a new village on the perimeter of the map (usually referred to as the rim), so you are close to other small villages and not too near big players. If you have more than one village, you continue on with your remaining ones. There is no distinction between your starting village and ones you have taken over with a noble.

[edit] When you get a new village on the outside, do you get beginner protection again?

Yes, you get your protection again to get you back on your feet. (The duration of the protection varies between worlds, so check the World Server Information for the World you are playing, e.g. World 10)

[edit] What happens if someone supports me and abandons right after?

Abandoning does not affect existing support in any way, however, once the villages are nobled the support will disappear.

[edit] If I send one attack with three noblemen, will it take more loyalty from the village?

No, it will do the same as sending one nobleman. The right thing to do is to send three attacking armies, each one with one nobleman within it.

[edit] Can I scout researches?

No, You may only scout troops, building levels and resources. Depending what world you are playing in you may have to have the proper research level to be able to see all three.

[edit] When I noble a village what happens to my nobleman?

He takes over the village, becomes the king there, and brings the loyalty up to 25. In other words, he disappears, and you cannot use him again. But the loyalty will rise provided you are not attacked with noblemen by another player.

[edit] When I am logged off, can other villages come and attack mine?

Yes, they can. You can also send attacks and then log-off, and login later to see the result.

[edit] What is morale? Why do I have lower morale if I attack certain villages?

Morale is TW's way of giving lower players a chance against higher players, when a higher player attacks, they are put at a disadvantage. If an attacker has 50% morale then their troops will fight at 50% strength. If an attacker's morale was at 30% (the minimum) then their troops will fight at 30% strength. A player must have less than 1/4 of your points for you to incur a morale penalty.

[edit] When I scout another village, does the scouted village get told?

Yes it does. If you scout someone, they will get an attack report. The defending scouts will attempt to kill the attacking scouts, so the more scouts you have, the more likely it is for them to survive.

[edit] What is farming?

Farming is a term used for when a player attacks another village repeatedly for supplies. See also: Tactics

[edit] Miscellaneous

For anything not covered above.

[edit] What is a barbarian village?

A barbarian village is a village that is not controlled by a player. In world 13 and those released since barbarian villages grow over time, acting as a normal village, although they will never create troops of their own. They are perfect for farming or a nice take over after time. They can also be villages that once belonged to a player who deleted their account.

[edit] What does speed mean?

Game speed is a factor in the game's internal clock. In a world of speed 2 buildings are built in half the time, resources are produced twice as fast, etc.

Unit speed is a factor used to counter-act the game speed's effect on units. On faster worlds having units traveling twice as fast would leave the defender with such a small space of time to react, therefore a unit speed is used to slow troops down at least partially, so that their speed is closer to that of what they are on a speed 1 world.

[edit] Why do I keep losing battles?

The enemy may have more or stronger (cavalry) units, he may have a good wall (if you are attacking), may be lucky (random) or you may have a morale penalty (due to point differences). If it's not this, it is quite likely his units have an advantage over yours. Certain units have a great advantage over others depending on whether they attack or defend. Using axeman for defence is, for example, a terrible idea, even more so against attacking cavalry units. For an overview on which units are strong against others, you may want to have a look at the Combat calculations article.
